How to prepare Current Affairs for CSE ?



When it comes to UPSC, current affairs play a pivotal role in it. In all the 3 stages of exams, candidate's awareness and alertness about the happenings around him /her, his updation on all current issues - regional, national, International is checked. As the syllabus says " current events of national and international importance ". So, it could be literally anything. So 1st of all limit your sources. And stick to what you have chosen and try to be regular with it till your selection.

1. Most important is the Hindu newspaper. The best and reliable source of information. Try to follow important national, international, science and technology and economy news.
Editorials should be followed daily as they are well written and mostly by a subject expert and are authentic and reliable.
For science and technology- Sunday added newspaper column.
For art and culture - Friday review supplement.

Around 80% of current affairs will come directly or indirectly from the Hindu newspaper.

Make notes from the newspaper , mostly from the editorial section. Initially, it will take time but after 5-6 months you will start filtering out articles from the newspaper.

2. One monthly compilation, you can choose from a multitude of options online or offline.

5. Rajya Sabha TV videos - which discuss mostly on policy issues and things which are in news and get multiple views from different sorts of experts .it will help mostly in mains exams to write a well rounded and complete answer.

6. Focus on issues, not news like - why it is news, it's the background , its current scenario, it's further suggestions, etc.

That's all for current affairs. Make it a habit to stick to it on a daily basis even though you have to cut an hour from your static portion of the preparation . And these will help you solve 90% of all the current affairs questions.
